acan closed up for 10 days...

i have a colony of acan that didn't open for 10 days... it didn't look unhealthy, didn't have any tissue recessions, colors were not bleached... it just didn't opened for a few days... i didn't see the tentacles out either... it is only now that it's finally starting to open... i was just wondering what causes this...

i know my water is good because i have another colony of acan right next to it and it has remained fully opened... i don't have any nippers as the only fishes i have in the tank are 2 percula clownfishes and a banded shrimp goby...

here is a picture i just took. as i said, they are just starting to come around so it's starting to look fluffy... but look at the one on the very top of the colony... that's how they all looked like for 10 days...

One of my Aussie lord colonies was closed up for a week. I have 4-5 colonies and the rest were fine. It finally opened back up and ate normally a couple days ago. Not really sure why it closed up. I did move it to the shade and thats when it first closed up. Did you move it perhaps?

i haven't moved that acan for atleast 2 months now... the only thing i've changed in the system is the addition of a skimmer... it closed up a day after i added the skimmer...

It could have been light shock. If you didn't have a skimmer before and now do, you'd be surprised how much more light gets through the water as your tank cleans up. A similar situation can occur when carbon is introduced.
