how long to run halide on zoa tank??

I have a 150 watt 14k HQI punpod on my ap24 and I was wondering how long a day should I run the halide? Some people only run for about 4 hrs and others run for about 12 hours.. I was just wondering what is the best length of time?

I believe depends on your wallet ( electricity ) and temperature in the tank ( heat levels created in tank due to MH' )..

I am at 12 but I would do it gradual and also keep in mind what the Honda said. A lot depends on the ballast and bulb as well. good luck

well all my coral but one was under halides running 12 hours a day. the tank temp stays at about 82-83. This is a open top setup so the heat isnt as bad as my 37 column was with the canopy.

My halides run 10 hrs Per day on a reverse photoperiod with 1 hours of actinic illumination before and after the Halides come on/off.

Same Photoperiod here.......Although in the winter/summer I make it come on more like the time in the real world.....

I do it this way because I'm gone all day long. I'm home between 5 and 6 PM and at least this way I get to enjoy seeing my tank. LOL.

On at 3PM off at 10PM. I am going to cut back because I am getting some algae issues.

Duel 250 MH 10K, no actinics.

Yes.

But I never exceed 8 and I get great growth, so who knows. My RPE's went from 6 polyps to 12 in 5 weeks, and that is not unusual for my tank.

I would still say yes, but other things matter also. I just cannot say what those 'other things' are, because I don't do anything.

Is not doing anything doing something?
