Which Fans to Use to Cool System?
Hi Everyone,
My new tank is almost completely cycled. I am almost ready to start adding live organisms, but after monitoring my tank's temp yesterday with the lights on, my tank is a whopping 89 degrees! I do not want to get a chiller if I do not have to. I have read the rave reviews of cooling fans, how they can lower a tank's temp by 7-10 degrees! I just want to get a nice set(s). My tank is 265g and 7 feet long. I do have a sump as well as a closed loop system. Also, My tank has 2 SEIO M1500s and a Sequence Dart Reeflo pump that feeds the closed loop & has a flow of 3100gph. I love my new system, just not the temp. Please help w/ any suggestions. Thanks Guys....Your help has helped me be a successful little hobbyist for over 5 years as a RC member! Here's a photo of my tank: |

Okay,
All is well. I purchased 2 Azoo (4 fan systems) from Drs. Foster & Smith this week. I got them and installed them over my tank. Belive it or not, I will not be needing a chiller. My 3x400watts XM 20K Metal Halides are no longer a problem, as the fans brought my tank's temperature down from a whopping 89 degrees to a reading as of this morning of 77 degrees! When the lights were on for the 12hour span, my temp only registered 78.9 degrees! Awesome! I only paid $29.99 a piece for each 4-fan set! That beats the price of a chiller any day! |

Beautiful looking tank so far! I went the low - tech way. I have one of the 2 fan units you put in a window to either suck air in or blow it out, it sits just perfectly on the back of my tank. I can't imagine how hot the tank would be without fans to blow the heat from the MH off!

You know, I did read a thread you participating in regarding great fan ideas here on RC. I remember a comment regarding the small STAPLES fans. Did you also get the 2 fans from STAPLES? ---I chimmed in on that thread. I called Staples, but the fans were only available online--and I didn't want to wait too long to get the fans. |
