Mixing Butterflies

What are the rules concerning mixing butterflies. I have a 75g and I would like to get a couple. I also have 125g that I'm considering moving my 75g up to and if it opens up a lot of possibilities, I will go through with it.

Your best bet would be to get two or three of a schooling species, like the red sea butterfly, pyramid butterfly, or Chaetodon miliaris (I don't remember the common name, lemon butterfly maybe?). It will have a more dramatic effect than having a few mixed species, IMO.

Also make sure to add them at the same time.

Edit: And that would be for the 125. I recommend that you upgrade!

I'm trying to upgrade, but there are some technical details that need working out. I've got to deal with the fish already in the 125 and modifying the stand.

I would say that for the most part don't mix butterflys.

Depends on the species of butterflies. I have mixed Kleins, Lemon and Longnose with no problems for example. Auriga/Threadfins tend to be more aggresive. What butterflies did you want to mix?

I definitely want a pearl scale, but I like them all and I just want the best choices for mixing.

My Experience with pearlscales is they are more docile. Mixed with Kleins, Lemon and Longnose should be fine depending on tank size. Other good butterflies are Pakistan, Both Double Saddles (Facula and Utileinsis) and Heniochus Sp (except H. monoceros which can be as aggresive as some angels). I am assuming this in NOT a reef tank.
