Do you have to use a chiller? What pendant is that? Have you ever had any fish jump out? It looks really pretty.

Puff,
600 gph/ each = 1,200 gph total. I'm going to run an Eheim 1260 for my return pump. I know LarryW is going to use an Eheim 1262.

Thanks for the info Joe. I am thinking about using all 4 as overflows and returning through the holes in the top.
I think that would push me to over 2000.

Nice looking tanks!

hmm, so draining through all 4, and returning over the top..... What are you going to be keeping? SPS? you might consider a CL, and keeping the overflow for the sump. I am using a 1262 for my return with a ball valve to adjust to return. Then 2 Vortech MP40's, and 2 maybe 3 Tunze nano streams for flow in the tank. that's about 9600gph with 3 nanostreams, and not including the returns. that will give me 80x turnover in the tank, and my SPS should love it.

I got my marco rock in last week, and I got my Aquascaping done. what do you guy's think?

Looks pretty dang cool. I was going with Marco Rocks as well. What is the mixture again? I like the flat rocks. That will be good for placing sps. Did you get your Vortech fixed? I heard you had a porblem. I had asked you before...do you think a closed loop would work? Wouldn't you have to drill a hole in the tank to do a closed loop? I would hate to do that. =/ How are you liking your Vortech's? Is the flow best when placed on the sides of the tank like that?

I bought 100#of fiji, and 50# of Tonga shelf. I wanted the shelf for my SPS frags, and colonies. I tried what eco said to do on the one vortech, but it still wont spin up. I put the good wet side on the on motor, and its fine, so I need to contact them and get the wet side replace. A CL would work great in this tank, but you would need to drill the tank, or put intakes and returns over the back. I will probably play around with the placement. Eco said you could put them on the back to then hit the glass, and spread out left an right, but it might also kickup sand.

Whats is the largest size tank they make for the Tech Series? What sites sell them or have any sort of pricing on them?

120 is the largest tech series. there isn't alot of info on the web about them. the best thing to do is contat your LFS. my 120 tank and stand was $1100, but I got a decent price on it.

MarineGirl411,

I don't use a chiller now, I got my fans on top of the tank that does a really good job of cooling, with the cost of evaperation ofcourse.

Larry,

I see you got your Vortech's, looking nice. You get water in there yet ?

no water yet, I am pulling the rock this week to cure at my LFS. he is going to throw it into one of his 300g systems to cure for a month or so. I need to plumb the returns, and my RODI, and order my sand. I should have water in the tank by the end of august I hope.

I need to send the left one back to EcoMarine. the wet side won't spin up, and I put the right one's wet side to the left motor, and it's fine.

That's a real bummer about the Vortech not working right. Did you fill your tank with Tap Water to test them? How did you test them? I have a Vortech I just got on my 40 breeder. It is awesome, but it was kind of a pain in the butt to get those lousy rubber pins to fit inside those holes. It does produce a good flow though. I don't know if I'd want it on the side of my tank. I might be able to ignore it in a larger tank, but I tried it on my 40. It just kinda got in my way. Maybe in a larger tank I wouldn't notice as much.
I was thinking maybe 2 on the back of your 120. Have you tried that yet? With the Vortech and my closed loop it does kick up a little sand, but it settled down and I have a little pile down the middle. It gets good flow behind my rocks though which is great. =) If I did a closed loop, I'd get a Wavy Sea Plus to distribute flow. Or maybe 2 1in sea swirls, but the negative with those is each one cannot handle much flow. Larry your Solaris looks sooooooo nice! If you can keep SPS under that long term, then I'm changing for sure. They look so sleek and their light looks so pleasing. Plus the adjustments are awesome.
Sditch I'd love to do an open top to reduce the heat and place fans on it like you did. I think my Anthias would jump out though. One took a leap out of my tank the other night, but it's okay now. Good thing my cat didn't see it. =/ Are you using the Sunpod?
Oh yah, I did find in cheaper at another LFS. They do mostly freshwater fish, but I asked if they could order it. She said she could! YAY! It is almost 150.00 cheaper.

hehe, no I used a 10g to test them. I had put one in the display tank @ my LFS, and we played around with it for a half an hour or so. I haven't really moved them past there current locations, I will have to fill the tank and play around with them. they don't really get in my way where they are now. I had to move the right one close to the front, and I turned all 4 returns down to put flow behind the rock. I might drop a couple small PH's back there to move water.

120 tech update pictures

New additions since my last update include three Disbar Anthias, pistol, Pete, shrimp and a Yasha goby, bristletooth tang, branching frogspawn, a few different Candy Cains, a couple of Zoa frags, a few brain corals and an nameless SPS.

Name that SPS please.

Maybe I missed it, but I don't see the specs on the tech tanks on the Oceanic website? I just setup my 75g anemone tank, but love to replace it with a tech tank.

90g looks good to replace my 75g, should fit the new stand that I just had built.

is there retail pricing with those sizes and can we get them from any LFS that can order Oceanic tanks?

I think someone said this already, but I'd really like to see some bigger sizes like a 180 or 210.

I think your new SPS is a type of Pocillipora. Do you have a Sunburst Anthias in there as well? It looks like it. That Solaris is really putting out some nice light! How are you liking it so far?

The Oceanic website site does suck. I went there today and they don't even have those tanks listed. I also could not find a contact e-mail address for them. So I e-mailed AGA. Reef Sponger if your LFS gets Oceanic then they can order you that tank. I'm going to have a LFS order me one. Hopefully someday soon. =)

So funny as about 3 years ago, I asked if Oceanic can build me a custom reef ready tank with black back glass and starphire front glass with center overflow and they said "no". Now look at their tech tanks. LoL

Lol that is weird. Maybe quite a few people asked for a tank like that.

I am wondering some of the overflows on this thread have a black plate over the overflow. Is that part of the Eurobracing? Does it come off? I would think it would have to because of maintenance. Please let me know. TY

MarineGirl411,

The black plate over the overflow just lays across the top of the overflow. It comes off easily. When you get your Tech, make sure yours has the cover included, and also comes with the Oceanic overflow kits. Sometimes, the LFS "forgets" to place them in the tank when the customer is picking up their tank.
