Randy's Magic Plate
I just posted in my Gallery, two pictures of where that big plate @ Jo Mars came from. When I broke one of the plates off for the Club meet I noticed four new baby plates growing. I thought I would share. I think its cool.
Ok. I edited and added the links, Thanks Ron Randy http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showp...t=1&thecat=500 http://reefcentral.com/gallery/showp...t=1&thecat=500 Last edited by Ugly Feet; 01/19/2007 at 08:25 PM. |

Hey Randy you can post the image in here.
Use brackets before and after your images URL and close. If that's to confusing just hit the IMG button above, and paste the address. BTW It's about time you showed up on here. For those who don't know Randy has a "Magic Plate" coral a HelioFungia I believe. One that has reproduced several times in captivity. If you want a long tentacle plate Randy has the best home grown plates around IMO. Great Job!

Whats this HelioFungia? You said I could name it whatever I wanted So It's "Randy's Magic Plate" Kinda has a ring to it.
I know I've needed to be posting, oh for about a year now. I'll try to keep on top of it. There is a lot to learn, especially the all the different names of corals I can Keep under my new lights. |

I have two short tentacle plates that grew out of my rock in my display in Ironton, they are about 6 years old now. They only did it twice though, when it happened I thought they were mushrooms growing until they got the size of a 50cent (not to be confused w/ the rapper) piece and broke off, they have been living happily in the sand ever since. How did yours start growing??

This was one of my first pieces of rock I bought a little over 2 years ago when I was starting my tank. The only thing I knew about reef tanks was that I needed salt in the water and a filter I wanted some live rock or base rock so my tank didn't look so empty. I bought this rock along with a few others for around 7 bucks "great deal". To make a long story short, about one year later this rock had grown a nice size HelioFungia, with a smaller one growing underneath. The Plate broke off the rock one day, (My heart was broken) and a new one started growing in its place. I broke it off, a new one grew, and so on and so on. In the pictures you see plate #5 and #6 and the new babies #7,#8,#9, and #10, wow .
Thanks, Randy |
