accidentally killed hitchhiker crab
i was dumping out the lr from my ac150 into a bucket of saltwater and dumped the parts of the ac150 into warm freshwater when a dime sized crab fell out of the ac150. i was really surprised because the lr were rubble sized and i thought i had inspected each piece before putting it into the ac150. it was squirming around in the warmer than 80F freshwater and so i tried to scoop it up. i did manage to scoop it up, ran to my tank and threw it in. when it was falling to the bottom it fell apart!
and then a large hermit came running for it and quickly consumed it.

it was probably best, most 'cute' little crabs
get big real quick & start munching/crushing/bulldozing everything in the tank. |

Consider yourself lucky. As Rick said, generally hitchhiker crabs get big and nasty fast.
