At this point, I have everything to set it up, I'm just waiting on some extra fittings for the chiller. Supposedly, Aquamedic's warehouse burnt down, so I have to wait for them to re-stock the fittings, and then for them to ship it to a supplier, and then to me...

Hey thanks aural!

That sucks about their warehouse. Premium Aquatics told me that they should have the parts by the end of the month, so I guess the wait shouldn't be too long.

Ok, I bought the tank from Scott @ AquaticSystemsDesign, and I wanted to incorporate the sump that I already had. So, I ended up going with the external overflow, and a closed loop. I got a really great deal on a Titan chiller, so I just decided to add that to the tank as well. The hole on the top left is the sump return, the hole in the lower middle is the Closed Loop intake, and the hole right above that is the CL return. I have some loc-line on the returns right now, so I will be able to control the flow very easily.
In the sump, I will have some chaeto, and i also bought the fission nano-skimmer. The tank also sits on a 3" tall base.

As for my plans for the tank, I will have a short sand bed, and it will be primarily a mixed reef. Mostly zoas, rics, and a few sps like montis.

Thanks! A guy at nano-reef started making some awesome pendants, and I asked him about a custom one. After talking for a while, we decided on a small pendant with a 70w halide + dual actinics. The pendant that he made me is just incredible, really professional looking. He also built a ballast box which houses the PC and halide ballasts. A built in thermoflow fan is installed also. I don't have the pendant set up yet because I need to find a way to hang it without putting holes in the ceiling.

Thanks Barry!

Alien, that looks like a sweet hex tank. I like how he concealed everything like the CL intake and the return. Very innovative.

Thanks AIMFish! I'm going to shoot you a pm.

Update

Ok guys, here is an update:

My bro and I got the tank mostly set up w/ sand and rock. I couldn't set up the chiller, so I rigged up the closed loop so that when I get the fittings for the chiller, I can just hook the chiller up. The plumbing doesn't look great, but it will be more concealed when the chiller is sitting there. Also, we figured out how to hang the pendant. It's not permanent, it will eventually hang from the ceiling.

Anyways, here are the pics:

Angle shot:

Right side: (In order to hold down the light stand, I had to put the ballast and two 5lbs. weights on it)

Sump: (Fission skimmer, 50 watt heater, ph probe, temp probe, will have chaeto tomorow probably)

Aquacontroller Jr:

Pendant:

FTS:

Theres about a 1/2" of fiji pink sand, and I seeded it with some sand from my bro's 40 gallon. I don't know what you guys think about the aquascaping, but it looks pretty sick in person. Not bad I must say, for a first time.

Now, I play the waiting game. There won't be much of a cycle because the rock is cooked, but I will probably have to wait about 2 weeks.

Thanks.
