Two Q's About Salinity?

Hi,

1- How I can increase my salinity without affecting my system?

2- I'm using a cheap ebay refractometer, are they good? Or maybe it is giving me a bad reading? Any experience will be appreciated..

1-Do water changes and raise the SG of the water being added to the tank with the water change water.

When you top off your tank, top it off with salt water.

As for the refractometer, I don't have much experience, but who makes it?

One easy way is to make a light batch of salt water instead of using pure ro/di water for topoff therfor increasing the total salt of the tank.

The main thing is just to do it slowly over the coarse of a few days. Trying to up to quickly can cause shock.

and 2: Having more than 1 is ALWAYS a good thing especialy when a reading is off the wall. Better to verify than wipe your tank with a wrong test kit/meter
