I'm supposing the "Q" is in regards to quarantine and yes, doing that with corals is a good thing as well. I got a large colony of zoanthids from the LFS a little while back and it was infested with zoanthid eating nudibranches and eggs everywhere. SPS corals have red bugs and acro eating flatworms to worry about. I recently revamped my 10g reef tank with more flow and MH lighting so that new frags of SPS coral could be placed in it for awhile prior to going to my 120g display so that I could observe for these pests.

A month QT for the corals is recommended. You will need to get better lighting than you would normally need if it were just fish in your QT. An inexpensive power compact would suffice.
