what is meshmodding

o.k. so im thinking about diying a skimmer and have looked at many threads and all talk about meshmodding what im think is this is mesh in the output to create fine bubles to make the skimmer work am i right and hows it done pics would be very appreciated

it is mesh attached to the pump that "shreds" the air into the water.
