And that's exactly why the fighting is not discouraged. So be it, but it's not for me.

Fighting in hockey = wreck at a NASCAR race.

People state they hope there isn't one, but as soon as one happens - they are on their feet .........

Anytime.

I should have know better than to repond to a thread about hockey on a reef site. I am sure, if i went into a hospital and told a bunch of doctors, I was a student of medicine: but, I never went to Med School. I would be laughed out of the room.

Your description of hockey in your first post was not correct. You saw that for yourself, when you attended a game. With the new rules. Hockey is not the game, of years past. Fighting is a very small, but important of the game. Unless you have play it, you just don't understand.

Fighting has it's place in the NHL.
Why don't they just go to a boxing match then?

Last night, a young "would-be student of medicine" shadowed me for eight hours in the ER. He is trying to decide if he wants to pursue his interest.

I don't go to a game to watch twelve rounds of fighting. I go to watch the sport of hockey. If there is a fight, I'm going to root for the guys on my team. Hockey isn't about fighting, but there is a place for fighting within the sport. Guys don't just fight to fight.
