Welcome to RC!!
Why don't you just use some power heads?
I like the koralias.

Two of the Koralia #4s would be a great idea. I use them in my 150 gallon reef.

First, you return will only be able to handle 600GPH. Get a pump that will handle that, plus any headloss. The flow in your main tank will be terermined on what your keeeping. FOLR 20x is a good starting point. LPS 30x. SPS above 40x. This flow will be created by power heads.

I have a 90 gallon mixed reef. I have a mag 9.5 with a ball valve for the return and mag 9.5 for a closed loop. I just added a maxijet 1200 for a little extra flow. everything is doing great. I dont like the maxijet but i had it hanging around- koralia is the way to go.

thank you all. I will indeed try the power heads, i just didnt want to see them hanging around or have any fish sucked in to the inlets.

Try using eductors. I use two on my closed loop in my 75gal. and it gives me more than enough flow in the tank with only using a mag 5 for my return from the sump. If you do a search or just look around a little there are a couple of threads on these. They are very easy and cheap to make and require no powerheads. Many people attach them to their return line. Sorry I do not have the link, I will see if I can find it

forgot to mention that my closed loop is run by a quiet one 1000 with a 1" line reduced to 3/4" for scqwd. I have plans and parts to put together a complete pvc scqwd.
