Has nothing to do with creating live rock? Insane Reefer has a post in that thread that contains everything you'd ever need to know about making live rock.

No need for duplicate threads.

Peace

Here is a video of how they were made.
In this video the cement was mixed with 4 to 5 parts sand to 1 part cement with 2 parts salt.

And removal after 24 hours

I set up a 100% diy rock 75g about a 2 months using mr.willsons idea. This tank was seeded from my 125g using 1 diy rock from a year ago.

For this I let the rock dry for 1 week, filled tank with water and changed 3 times then let dryout again for 2 weeks.
Filled it with saltwater and let it go. I have tested the ph many times and has stayed steady at 8.8

The tank is just starting to grow coraline. I will update with a pic in a few.

that's very cool! I love the curvature of that spine of rock, and how you used it to hide the overflow.

so many people on this forum have had so much success with different techniques. It makes it really hard to decide which route to go

I will be trying some handi-foam work in a month or so, and I will most definitely be starting a thread as soon as its going. You can use various kinds of foam to entirely create a rock surface, or to link base rock together along eggcrate structures. Some people have had great success making handifoam look realistic by pressing base rock into it after letting it somewhat dry for a few minutes, so I'm going to give that a try.

cant wait to see your rocks in another few months, as I can tell the textural change of the rocks is only just begun. It will be totally unrecognizable in a year i bet

After 3 years this is what my tank looks like. The rock is concrete and was made about 3 years ago. There is 350 lbs of concrete and 40 lbs of Figi.
My rock recipe is 2 parts of Pavestone Pulverized Limestone, 2 parts crushed oyster shell and 1 part portland cement. It took 3 months to cure the rock.

Sunkool, have you used cement colorant to change the integral color of your rocks?
I wasn't sure but I thougth you said you created a rock with polyblend grout?
I just wanted to ask you because I have some cement colorant altered rocks that I want to use but am worried that somehow the colorant will negatively affect the tank.

Sorry I did miss it.
I did try some red I think it is iron oxide?
I did not like the looks.
I did make a frag rack and some frag rocks painted with krylon satin touch spray paint.
colors 3503 burgundy satin and 3525 hyacinth. Came out great.
I sprayed the hole rock with 3525 then just oversprayed some areas with 3503. Ill try to upload a pic in the morning.
