new refugium pump.. any suggestions?

Ive tried the mag 5, to loud.

Ive been using the Quiet One 2200, a little to much flow and something has occurred where it is spinning off balance and is extremely loud and worrying me about its operational future.

Sooooo, back to square one. I have a 37 gallon and am looking for 300-400 gallons per hour. Must be quiet!!!!! Its in my room so loud situations = not so nice.

Any suggestions?

Maybe you had a faulty Mag 5 as they are usually did silent until you get to the Mag 2400 and 3600 models. Then they sound like a lawn mower.

i'd take apart the mag and check for any debris or crud stuck in the impeller.

the mag has been long sold. The quiet one is my current pump, which i took apart last night and it got louder lol. Im really scared its going to burn out and am watching carefully, id hate to see it all go up in smoke in 1 second. The main problem i had with the mag was the vibration due to it not having any feet. Im thinking about a mag 3

Stick a cheap neoprene mouse pad under the pump.It will take care of the vibrations.

Eheims are insane for how quiet they are. I'm a believer after seeing SteveM's setup. He's got it plumbed as his sump return pump, and it pushes I think 900gph or something along those lines, and is DEAD SILENT!

Now I really want one, but they're weird european sized threading so you've got to fuss around to get the plumbing done right. HOWEVER they're DEAD SILENT (said in caps so you can really get the feel of how quiet it is ) and move a lot of water.

i made my eheim 1262 work with amercian plumbing by just sanding the socket fitting supplied till it fit a 3/4" pipe.

eheims are great pumps too, you pay more, but its a better overall engineered pump thats worth every penny
