Depends on packing.. Some shippers add some water to keep the rock moist. I would call the merchant where you bought the rock and explain your concerns... that way if the rock comes dry you can at least have a claim on file to post against the shipping co.

I had a problem with the shippment of my LR too. 1 box came next day and the other 3 were lost and came 3 days later. The shipper packed the rock in wet newspaper and some of it was still moist when I recieved it. I still had some life on the late ones with the exception of a few dead snails in the bottom of the box.

Rock may sit for days and days before it leaves where it was harvested in some cases. A day or 2 in shipping is not likely to make much difference

Rather not say who the rock co. was, it was not a fault of thiers.

The shipper was DHL tho. (Never doing business with them again as they are not co-operative with addressing my concerns or those of live animals).

They are 100% useless on the phone or in person.

In the future, I will not use any delivery service other than air freight for live shipments.

They say you live and learn.......

As long as you arent life in a DHL package, Ill agree with that

I finally talked to someone that gave me the truth on my shipment today. Also spoke to a superviser. My concern was if they had told me they lost the package 4 days ago...things could have been taken care of by now.

They were very interested in this forum that I explained, that had I read first, I would not have purchased an item shipped by them. I also explained that such a huge forum giving them such negativity with the gas expenses, etc. they are going through is not good. This thread is being turned in corporate level...so if you all have complaints post em here.

Hey, they might not even care enough to look....but then again.....who knows?

And hey gp....I also told them that had my shipment been live, like yours....(told them about you) I would be camped out on their front lawn by now. They have entirely too much competition to screw up this bad. I do know, and I told them, that if I purchase ANYTHING in the future....it will NOT be shipped by them, else it will not be purchased.

Hope your rock gets there today.............:/

I did get my rock this AM.

When I arrived at the station house, I expressed my concerns as Id stated to the five (5) other people Id spoken to on the phone.

They told me that:
1) They had not got the message I had sent by the corporate offices on saturday (this is monday morning)

2) That they could appreciate my concern, and offered me the $15 return on my 'saturday' delivery

3) I returned home from work to two (2) phone calls stating they could not place the package that I had picked up this AM.

At this time, I took my package and opened it to examine its contents in the presence of a DHL employee.

Much to the suprise of everyone in the Station House, the stench was incredible. So far this is the only retribution Ive got

There was a large amount of plant and sponge die-off (Id say 90%+ of the sponges and plants were dead, lots of dead worms etc).

I REPEATEDLY expressed my concern to DHL that this is a live shipment over the weekend, and the most I got out of them was "were sorry for your inconvience"......

That is simply not acceptable in my mind. What if it were cats or dogs, Im willing to bet they would of treated them the same way.

Ill say it one more time for anyone still left reading this thread.

I will not use DHL to ship anything live or not from here forward, nor do I suggest you do.

The lack of compassion, and customer service skills represented by the company are disgraceful.
