I've gone to bed at my regular time for the last five or so years. Nothing good happens on New Years Eve.

The bad car accident I mentioned on your thread was when we were hit head on by a drunk driver on New Year's Eve. That was 34 yrs. ago. I haven't partied on New Year's Eve since.

We routinely go out to dinner early---we will in prosperous years go later and get a seat at the restaurant on the Spokane River to watch the fireworks in the park, but this year [having bought a house] we will dine modestly at one of our regular watering-holes, drink moderately, with one of our friends who will be solo tonight, drive a sedate 3 miles home BEFORE the real lunatics come out, and spend the evening around our Christmas tree.

We have a tradition of saving one gift for New Year's Eve, so we have. Usually a fairly nice one, like a DVD to watch.

And we will get up in the morning and have waffles and sausages while watching parades.

Do celebrate, and if you don't celebrate, may next year be better than this one, always.

We've never partied on New Years eve, our tradition has always been to go the local movie store here and we rent a few movies (usually the one time a year we get to rent movies) that we've been wanting to see over the past year. Then we usually get some type of small snacks and good food to eat on, and just spend the evening/night watching movies and eating .

I think we are going to send the adult children out of the house and let the boys spend new years eve with grandma and grandpa.

You're working? Man, your boss sucks I gave my guys the day off.

I'm peeling wallpaper. We'll have dinner at home tonight and then go to our best friends' house around 7. We'll get home about 1:30. Been doing that for 10 years or so now.

HAPPY NEW YEAR. Stay safe!

That's what we're doing tonight! I rented SuperBad, The Simpons Movie and the 5th Harry Potter movie. I'm making strip steaks with a mushroom wine sauce, asparagus and baked potatos, with apple puffs for dessert, and hubby and I are just going to chill. I'm undecorating today and making a pot of chicken soup for tomorrow.

Dino, I'd IM you at your 12am, but I'll be asleep by then, so Happy Early New Years!!!!

And to all you other Loungers, may 2008 be happy, healthy and prosperous for you all.

Happy New Year to all. I'm working until 7PM. The little woman is making crab legs and lemon rice for dinner tonight. I'll be in bed by 10PM so that I can be up at 6AM for my shift tomorrow.

The ER is much busier on New Year's Day than on the Eve. For the past 10-12 years, New Year's Eve has been a relative non-event as far as serious stuff goes.
