could use some advice

So my tank has a bryopsis algea problem. I have been fighting it and losing. So I went out and bought a new 10 Gal tank and set it up with heater, pump, tiny filter. I am going to move about 15 lbs of my live rock and some clean up crew to the 10 gal so I can get better access to areas in my 30 gal in an attempt to rid the algea.

I really have no plan other than to get some stuff out of my 30 to create some room. My 30 is kinda packed with 50 lbs of live rock. No corals yet but a few fish and shrimp.

any advice

Unless there are other factors involved, you can scrub out all the Bryopsis you want and still continue to have a problem. It could be excess nutrients from feed, phosphate in your source water, or a lack of algae eaters or a lack of competition for the nutrients the bryopsis is using.

What are your tank parameters and what type of source water are you using? How often do you do water changes and what do you feed? Answering those questions can give us a little more of an idead of how to help you.

OK All params are fine. trates, trites...

I feed frozen shrimp once a day (sometimes pellets or flake instead) I rinse my frozen food before using

its a 30 gal tank no sump with a CPR bak pak skimmer, 2 powerheads (tunze nano, maxijet 1200)

livestock is 2 green chromis, 1 YWG, 2 shrimp, maybe 10 cerith snails, 8 astrea snails, 6 hermits, 1 emerald crab, 2 mexican turbo snails

I do a 5 gallon water change every sat night.

I use RODI water only and tst that it is 0 ppm

I have 45 - 50 lbs of live rock

I did use a coarse grain agrogate that might be causing problems. it has 4 mm grain size. but its agrogate not crushed coral. there is some fine sand mixed in as well.

Is the emerald crab eating it? I found with larger grains of aragonite, I'd get cyano but I think that's just because it gave itself a place to grow. If the emerald crab eats it, get another one or two for awhile. Find something that eats it. Or hook up a refugium and grow another macro algae to compete. Just be patient, scrubbing never did me any good.
