Bubble coral expelling?

Our green bubble is a month old. Seemed ok until today -- thin strings of reddish brown stuff appearing to be expelled from the skeleton. We feed it once every 2-3 days. Also, noticed side of the skeleton exposed to the light is turning light green.

Parameters:
- Salinity 1.022
- Calcium > 400
- Nitrates/phosphates/ammonia/nitrites undetected
- temperature 78-80
- VHO lighting (8X3ft -- white/blue)

Placement of bubble - close to bottom of tank on a live rock, about 20" from surface of tank, medium flow. We have a colt, finger leather and green branch hammer, all doing ok, and are spaced out at least 6-8" away from each other.

See picture below:

Tried searching for past threads under bubble coral but no luck.

Doesnt the bubble coral need medium to strong lighting...if I remember reading. I would bring it up towards the top 6-8" from the surface and keep atinics on it at night for feedings.

Salinity is WAY TOO LOW! It needs to stay in the 1.025 - 1.026 range.

It wouldn't hurt to raise the temp to 82.

Hi

capncapo's comments are well taken ([thanks]). You should act upon them yesterday if not before!

The strings of reddish-brown material probably are not coming from the skeleton, but rather the mouth and they are effectively coral "poop."

Thanks very much for the salinity help. Will raise immediately.

As far as the bubble needing more light, Eric B's coral book indicates low/medium lighting for this species.
