Question How long to acclimate shrimp?

Hello,
I want to add cleaner shrimp to my tank so on Saturday I went and picked one up. I placed the shrimp in a plastic cube with a rock, air pump, air stone, and all the water that came in the bag. This all went into the tank so that the water in the cube would match my tanks temp. On Sunday I started using a medicine dropper to add tank water to the cube. After a few hours of adding water I started exchanging it by removing a dropper full of water from the cube everytime I added one.

So, it's 0 dark 30 Monday morning and I'm at work surfing the Net. When I get home I plan on continuing with the medicine dropper water transfers. How long do I need to do this before the shrimp should be suitably acclimated to my tank?

Thanks,
Mike

I would say you could put it in your tank now. When I purchased mine I acclimated for no more than 1/2 an hour and then introduced them to the tank and they were fine.

Time should be based on the difference between LFS water parameters and your reef water. However since most people do not inquire about the LFS water, they rely on a water ratio or fixed time for acclimation. One thing to keep in mind is that during long slow drips, the temp in the container can drop significantly.

Yah, you should be fine.
Longer the better when it comes to acclimating shrimp. However, you are way in the green now.

Dumped shrimp, water, and rock right into the tank and all is well. Shrimp scampered up into my rockwork and my Emperor couldn't be happier. It keeps hovering around the shrimp for cleaning. Hopefully the Powder Blue will go for a cleaning too.
