I got an octo as a hitchiker

Make a long story short I get my LR from the ocean put it in coolers full of SW and put it in my tank
Well AT THE WORST I was thinking a mantis...
I have 1 and a couple pistol shrimp no biggie
Well I have an octo with the body being about 1 inch
HOW do I get rid of him ????
Is there a trap ??
poison???
I dont care
I dont need him to ink all over the place
ALTHOUGH where I got the LR from there was a 1 footer(body) that we messed with for about 1 minute and he never inked..

I'd keep it and wouldn't worry about any ink from a 1" octo. It will probably eat your mantis and pistols.

try a bottle trap.. 20oz bottle.. cut the top off.. invert the top back into the "body" of the bottle.. silicone it in place.. put a shrimp or some type of food in there.. then kick back and watch.

It might take some time to catch it.. they are very clever and master escape artists.

What do you plan on doing with it if you are able to catch it?

wait a sec man, think before you flush it. if you got it from the ocean take it back and set it free, there is no point in killing the octo. if you catch it you could even ask around at aquarium stores in your area and see if they would take it off your hands.

just because you dont want it doesnt mean you have to kill it.

catch it and sell it to me..id give you a few bucks

if you wanna do this...email me..sl3000gt94@aol.com

Easy way to catch it...get a jar with the lid on loosely..throw a nice crab in there..the octo will pop out..open the lid and go in and eat it..then just take it out of the tank...then bag it up good and I will buy it off you.

Guam is in the Pacific next to the Marrianas Trench
inbetween Japan and Australia 84 degree water year round
85% of the fish Dr F&S sells are here in the reefs

Im not going to flush it theres only 1LFS that sells SW fish and the guy would probably cook the thing up for lunch than sell it

Theres tons of Octos here

Do not dump it into an area that it didn't come from. Send it to someone who wants it.

I've heard of blue ringed octopuses coming in on live rock. They only get a few inches in size.
