Well if they are in gallon or less critter keepers there is no need (let alone is there ever one) to call PETA. They are kept there so they don't escape or terrorize anything and so they don't escape. It is just temporary like all fish in a fish store are in temporary homes that are not suitable (except for parameters hopefully) long term.

It really sucked, now I am not sure if I want an octopus. They don't live long and they cause a lot of problems when they die. Maybe i am just jaded from my first experience.

You chose an octopus that is not well suited for aquarium life as your first. Even experienced cephalopod keepers do not have great success with the Wonderpus species. Next time try a Bimac, Aculeatus, Mercatoris, Joubini, Bocki, or Cyanea. Any of those will give you a great experience and are easier to care for.

i wud just like to say ive had an octopus living happily with me for 8 months now. and hes never had a lid on the tank... :}

Don't think that was smart to tell people. Could have a species that doesn't like to be out of the water as much.

Also if you have anenomes in there with him that is not a good idea for either animal.

Its a large tank, and few anemones, hes fine
