I know I'm fishing bro but I must admit it felt good to find that. Hopefully the Polyfilters will pull some nasty's out.

Gresham do think this algae is, Hincksia? According J. Sprung's book on algae, it is a filamentous algae not common in aquariums. Seems to bloom is temperate or cold water aquariums. My water has been chilly lately

ID'ing algae, especially aglae like this, is very hard to do via pictures. Can you send me a sample to have ID'd? I have mine I'll bring back in as well, but I'd love to have another source to be sure

FWIW my tank has been running on the colder side as well - 76f.

Thats so out there for me as my tank was at 72 degrees when the algea became out of control. Look at the first Picture the left side of the tank then look at the second picture left side. You can see the same type of algea has exploded. My tank is now ay 80 degrees and the algea has stoped growing. I think between the rust and the cold temp this strain of algea is very bad, I will also say i added around 40 pounds of live rock from a freinds tank that had a deep sand bed if this helps Eric.

What would be the best but cheapest way. Ground? 2nd day air?

BTW, tanks been running 74 at night a couple of times because the fan was on on some colder nights and forgot to turn it off....

Today is part 2 of the detective and maintanence. Hopefully I do not find anything else

Hope you and your tank are on the path to recovery bud
Thanks and I hope your system is on the road to recovery as well!!

like you said, it ain't easy being a reefer, if we aren't dealing with one thing it's always another, just another day in the life of a reef addict
