It's really an amazing tank from many points of view! Great job Alessandro! Hei, I know that man

As far as aquascaping is concerned, I still think that Steve Weast is no. 1, and Richard Harker is no. 2 . They both made something very close to a specific reef zone.

But to be honest, when you see Alessandro's tank the only word you can say is... WOW, no matter if it looks like a candy store, or a pile-o'-rocks or whatever.

I think that there's a trade off between "natural looking" and variety of species of contrasting colors.

BTW, japanese tank are good examples of the art of aquascaping, I love them, but are those bonsai-reefs also natural looking tanks?

EVC bulbs: check Sanjay Joshi test, it seems that the spectrum is very very complete, no "holes" in it, no integration required.

GH method: Alessandro switched back to the zeovit method, he just tried the other one to improve growth. I'm sorry I have no more info on the GH method, but I won't be worried about it...

Sorry, I have 400 watt mogul bulbs. I must have been sitting on my brains. They might be able to order them for you. I plan to try the 400 watt moguls soon.

Stunning!!!!!

Tanks like these set a high standard for how far this hobby has come in just a couple of decades. Twenty years ago we were getting excited about new "wet dry" technology and Julian Sprung was having arguments with biologists who simply could not believe that coral could grow in a closed inland environment.

Sheesh... look at this thing. A tank like this could pay for itself - I would gladly pay $100 for a handful of frags from this tank.

I have tried both EVC 10k and 14ks. The 14ks are a little bluer than I thought but some people (like myself) like that. The 10ks are really awesome though. Very clean, balanced light. I'd love to have 3x400W EVC 10ks. And those Diamond reflectors are off-the-hook! Never heard of them until my last reef club meeting. How much do they retail for?

ps...oh...forgot to ad...BEAUTIFUL TANK! I have to go and pick my jaw up off the floor now.

I didn't know tanks were a matter of national pride.

Beautiful corals. Living art.

And clearly, outstanding husbandry.

Outstanding aquarium,numero 1 .

GH = human growth hormone. All the rage in Europe it seems (still, despite NO scientific evidence to support it).
All the rage around Rome, where BC is located ,I dont think many reefer in Europe use GH -somatropin- in their reef tank.
BC is Blu Corali,is the name of the reef shop, the owner "invent" somatropin-GH-method.

BEAUTIFUL tank and beautiful fish too! That isn't the biggest of aquariums, basically like a 180 right? So his bioload is pretty high with all those fish and he's STILL got great color and zero algea. You sure you aren't getting paid Pfft by EVC, Diamond, H&S or ZEOvit to show these pictures? It sure does make a nice claim for them.

That's a pretty dense aquascape. Wonder how much flow he is running to prevent detritus buildup in such a densely aquascaped, and coral inhabited tank.

Flow is detailed in the article and in this post somewhere...

That is the recommended Kelvin for ZEOvit users to get natural colors from the ocean. I have to admit that this is very true from some what I have experienced.
