size and color of cutting board for BB
I've read on here about people using cutting boards for a BB. I was wondering what color most of you got, and what size do I need for a 20l?
thanks |

Color- White is the usual color of choice.
Size- Im not completely sure on this one, but I would think just enough to be snug with the footprint of your 20l. Hope this helps.

Color: most people tend to choose white (closer to sand color I guess). I choose black, because like black sand, I find that it brings out the color contrasts better.
Size: I strongly suggest you get it "slightly" smaller than the footprint, so that you can vacuum up the crap that deposits in the "gutters". I made sure that the airline vacuum can fit in the gutter to suck up all the detritus. |

you could seal the edges with a two-part epoxy(like the ones used to line homemade plywood tanks....completely safe and you wouldn't have to worry about the "gutters" or the real small stuff that will eventually get under it.

Rather than using Starboard, paint the bottom panel white (on the underside of course) and call it a day!
Starboards main purpose is to protect the bottom panel in the event of pressure points or a rock fall. In a 20L you won't have enough LR to create PP and they aren't stacked high enough for the rocks to do any damage in a fall. Besides, I can easily scape any coralline off my bottom panel. With starboard, you stuck looking at it or getting an urchin to eat it. |
