Kent Nautilus TE
I recently bought a system from a friend that had been set up for about 1 year and running well. It is a 72 gal bow with a 20 gal sump. It came with a Kent Nautilus TE skimmer.
I am having a tough time getting it adjusted properly. It either produces exptremely wet skimmate in large quantities, or if I back off the level a bit it produces nothing at all. Does anyone have one of these skimmers that is having any success? Any tips you have would be appreciated. Are there any other issues other than that equipment that I need to consider (i.e. chemistry, etc.)? Many thanks.. |

I have one and it works pretty good. The key is to keep youre sump water level a constant. Also, if youre nutrient level is low, there wont be much to skim. I have mine on a 180 and would like to upgrade to a asm g4x. Before I do that, I will try a recirculating modification on the kent. I will try to find a sedra 5000 or 9000 so I can use it on the asm if I still dont like the kent.

I used one for a long time...Surprisingly, it was a very efficient skimmer. What are you suing for a pump? I used a Mag 7 with mine.

Jman,
Look up modifications at www.asmskimmer.com Boomer, I use a mag9.5 Have you tried any mods? I'm wondering if a recirc. mod. would be worth a try. If I could find some uniseals, I might break out the ol drill bit! Wish me luck. |

I have one on a 40RR with a Rio 2100 plus with a pin-wheel.
Works GREAT wouldn't change a thing. I also have a Euro CS5-2 maybe try that one next year on it.
