When you say back stabbing do you mean the push in connectors on standard outlets? If so GFCI outlets do not have that kind of of connection. Only screw that you wrap a wire around or screw that clamps a strait wire.

Yeah I know GFI's dont have that feature. I was just venting my anger about the lazy electricians that wired my house.

Yeah stab-ins are bad news. IDEAL even has "stab-in" wire nuts. The local graybar was pushing them last time I was in. I could not believe it.

So I built one today, very simple! I ended up just doing one GFCI outlet because I was short on funds, and I already have two plug-in GFCI's that work perfectly on my pumps and other equipment. So this DIY one is just for the lights, and it works great! Thanks for the help guys. Now I just have to get a new faceplate for the cheapo 50 cent one I cracked while putting this together.

I was reading this post, which is very informative, but I was confused about the wiring profile when you are combining these GFI's with an American DJ power center (PC 100A)?

Would you then use an appliance cord for each outlet on the power center (connected to an individual GFI outlet), and that would work to isolate each piece of equipment using each GFI, and not cause the entire unit to trip?

So each switch would be: wall -> unit -> switch -> GFI -> Equipment?

Also, I have read that you shouldn't run halides on GFI's because it will cause the GFI to trip everytime the halide ballast start up? Is this true? Thanks!

My halides used to trip my plug-in GFCI's all the time, just like my TX5 did. I never tried this DIY GCFI powerstrip with the halides, but it worked on my T5's so I don't see why it wouldn't work on the halides too.
