I am pretty sure that this one is non Indo, but several have told me that it isn;t, despite it being identical to a known named Acan that is being sold (came from same supplier I was told and have no reason to doubt...).

Nice stuff, Randy. I knew if I checked Marvin's thread out, I'd see tons from you (just wondering where the other lord/micro mogul's pics are-she's responded once). Really nice stuff. I still love your red and grey. Mine hasn't gotten the deep grey centers yet, but that is my favorite look.

Heres a slightly blurry pic from Oct.

Randy: Just out of curiosity what was your salinity & Temp average when the bail-out was occurring, if you remember?

My buddy had the same thing happen to a colony of his Japanese acans. It was during the summer when the temp of his tank got in the mid 80's. By the time he got a chiller polyps started to detach. He lost just about the whole colony. He recently gave the rest to me. There were 4 polyps left, but when I put them in my tank 2 more polyps came off. At least the 2 biggest polyps stayed.

I got them in September and lost my first one to bail out in January. The other followed over the next few months.

I have to work hard to keep my tanks warm in the winter. I keep my sump in the basement, on the cement floor, so I have almost 2000 watts of heaters maintaining the temps between 77-78 F.

Not sure on the salinity. I try to keep in between 1.025-1.027

The polyps are retracted, they are quite large. It looks metallic in person.

Great Pics everyone. The acan bug has just recently bitten me as well. I have a few now but am getting some non-indo this weekend. I'll try to post some pics of my new additions first of the week.

A quick question for all of you that are having good luck with color and growth. I have a 58 RR tank set up primarily for acans - will a 175 MH 14k with 4 (75 watt) 24" vho's be enough light for them? I also hope to get a few micros and put them near the top.

All delight - You also have a very nice collection - how 'bout a pic of your new one??
