double that and you'll have what i paid for the whole freaking house. if i was gonna spend that much, i'd build a room on and take my chances with a leaky roof!

Nina, do you have a flat roof, or does it have a pitch to it? If it's flat, you might want to consider one of those seamless rubber-type roofs instead of shingles?

(Not that I'd really know....this discussion is way too butch for me).
oh heck no less, gary would never have let my buy anything with a flat roof...

Photobucket

i have really simple taste ^.

I'm pretty sure that I do. I had an uncle in MN that grew soybeans.

Haha...I grew up on a farm, so I didn't even think twice about Brian's comment.

Will it be blue like your current roof?

petemysweet, look again. my current roof is brown. i haven't decided on color. i may go with dark green since all of my outbuildings have dark green roofs (should that be rooves?...hoof...hooves...i'm so confused). i do recall gary telling me that he thought dark green would be good.

here's the bottom line from gary's brother...i can get architectural shingles, 30 year guarantee (i know, i know, but that's what they SAY), tear off, new paper, new roof, new everything for $2400. that includes all labor plus the dumpster for the old shingles. it pays to have a home-improvement brother-in-law.

since that's considerably less than what i thought i'd have to pay, i'm treating myself to new shutters on the front. i'll paint the old ones and put them on the back of the house for a little dress up.

That sounds like a very reasonable price.

Of course, I don't know what your Heineken budget will be.

if i start buying a case a week, by the time the weather is good enough for them to do the job, i should be in good shape.

alternatively, i could have nana come up and watch them work. the boys never drink in nana's presence.

That's a great price, I'm jealous.

My estimates ran between $5800 and $10,000, but that was for a 2-layer tear off and the swamp cooler would need to be lifted down then back up.

So you're really not talking about your wig? Which, according to Debi, is blue.

YOU JUST SHUDDUP!!

satori, jp...i'm sure if i hired roofers other than my dear brother-in-law, i would pay twice the price. gary's brothers are all so good to me, i never have to ask twice to have anything done. heck, they've even volunteered to clean up horse doodoo if i need to be away. i'm sure they would rather i not call on them for that but if i have to, i know i can.
