If I saw AEFW at LFS should I say?

BTW: It's NOT AC in the city. Maybe some other reefers can check out?

You should totally point it out to the employees at the store!

Good to know, so even if you don't reveal the store, we can keep an alert eye out when we shop.

Sorry for the dumb questions but what do they look like? Are they also red and brown like the normal guys?

Do a search here on RC. There are many threads, most with good pictures of the FWs and more importantly their eggs.

No, they are NOT the red planaria. AEFWs blend in with the corals that they are dining on.

If you saw AEFW at a store I would first question myself if you really saw them, they're quite difficult if not damn near impossible to see when the coral is in water.

I would definately want to know if it was my store. Even though everything gets dipped, you never know what might come through!!

I agree with Tyler.

Most lfs want to know if there's pests in their tank other than aiptasia, and valonia.

Even if there are regular flat worms they should be aware of it. Whatever anyone does, please don't be nasty about it by announcing to the whole store - one can discreetly tell them w/out coming off as an arse.

yeah, many stores really appreciate customers letting them know about something they don't notice. Sure they're there all the time, but they sure do appreciate any help!

No... Not at
tyler store. Didn't actually see them but the bit marks left on some SPS.
Looks a lot like the bit marks in the AEFW form. Maybe I'm mistaking.

If you see the bite marks then more than like they're there. I would say definitely let them know.

Personally I would tell the store owner but I find that in general when you give any kind of criticism or anything negative even if its beneficial to the store, they generally blow you off (because they don't want other potential customers to hear it) or they return negativity in kind.

So personally the confrontation isn't even worth it and unless I know the store owner, I just keep walking.

I agree with Andy and I would add if you do tell the owner, pick a time when not many people are around so the owner doesn't feel put on the spot. YOur just trying to help, but the owner could feel threatenned if others hear about what parasite they may have

I experienced this recently as well. Took home an acro frag and found tons of eggs at the base of the plug after I got home. I just sent the person in charge where I got it a PM/email afterwards so that they'd be aware of it.

I've told 3 different vendors about rb/aefw/nudis. They were all very appreciative, and took measures right away.

I told two vendors about Monti Nudis. Neither were appreciative, and neither did anything to correct the situation. And, I was very discreet. That said, you gotta tell at least them.

I've told a dozen or so and the typical response is what you got For me I walk a fine line. I'm at the store usually as a rep for our company and me telling them they have bugs could get in the way of our relationship. I told a store back east about monti nudis and the manager was 100% OK with them. He said they don't eat montis, I didn't know what I was saying and he likes them :/

As far as anyone know there is no definitive one thing that eats AEFW, and no for sure cure.

Dipping and quarentine are going to be your number one allies.

That will only work if your tank is not infested yet. But what if your tank with lots of large acros incrusted on your rocks get infested. How do get red of the AEFW?

Break the colonies off of the rocks.

I can't think of one success as of yet for in-tank treatment. The one that comes to mine was gung ho on it wound up nuking their 200g+ tank and livestock. It was a bad case of "oh well, I can always get new coral frags and fish and shrimp any old time."
