Sixline missing...
I got a sixline wrasse not too long ago. he was really scared at first, but then got happy and started swimming around the rocks, and now he has gone missing. Is he just hanging out somewhere? is this normal for sixline wrasses?
thanks for the help. |

How long since you've seen it? IME, it's not unheard of for them to be scarce every so often, but they are pretty social buggers that are normally out and about during light hours. How long have you had the fish? Any chance it could have jumped out, ended up in an overflow, etc?

Probably in the rocks. I'd look around on the floor, just to be safe though. My coris wrasse was in the outside box on my HOB overflow yesterday. That was odd. He's about 5 inches long. I'm guessing he jumped out the back of the tank and happened to land in the overflow.

My daughters 6 line in our tank disappeared for a few weeks. We searched the overflow, filters and floor and thought he was a dog snack. Started looking at the LFS around here for a replacement and came home one day and there he was again.
A few weeks later he did it again for not as long as a period. Give it some time and see if it comes back out. Check overflows and filters like others have mentioned just in case. They make cocoons in the rock with mucous at night so look for that. You didn't rearrange any rock in that time frame did you?

Thanks for the help!
I introduced him to the tank about 4 hours ago, and he seemed to disappear when i moved the light strip over the tank... that probably freaked him out and made him hide. Te cleaner shrimp is not even phased by it though... I love him. And by the way.. if you ever get a chance, feed your skunk cleaner shrimp baby brine shrimp.. they go NUTS! |

Yeah he is probably hiding in the rocks since he is new to the environment and tank.

We feed frozen food (thawed out) that the shrimp love to dart out and grab the big pieces and then retreat with their find. Its kind of fun to watch them haul away this huge chunck of food. Watched my sons cleaner steal it away from a clowns mouth a few times
