Very nice layout. This is a lot nicer (IMO) than those walls of rock!

Thanks guys, pics really do it no justice and I will be listening carefully to Gary at the meet. I will even bring the camera with me to try and figure it out. I remember posting when I first started what was more beneficial for the fish the extra filtering ability of the liverock (though displacing a lot of water) or less more porous rock and all that extra water? Never really got an answer, just a lot of lbs per gallons suggestions.

I don't have the answer, however I can offer my opinion. Reef keeping has come a long way in the last ten years. It has been said that one should have as many pounds of rock in their tank as they have gallons of water. It is my opinion that this is no longer necessary. We have better skimmers now, dsb/rdsb's, filter media, etc. Having less rock and better equiptment will allow one to keep less rock, thus providing more room for fish to swim. The tang police have a chart that suggests the minimum tank gallonage to successufully keep particular tangs. No one seems to take into considderation the fact that potentially more than half of the tank's volume is taken up by ROCK!!!

Less rock + better equiptment= happier fish.

Wow that rockwork looks just like mine. I did this so the fish have more swimming room. I would like to keep a powder blue some day. Besides i like the cove look over the wall look.

Lando,
Not sure what you are doing with your camera but if you are using the flash, that changes the coloring significantly.
I found turning the flash off really brought the colors out.

Magdelan,
Although I am far from an expert, I agree with what you say.
I believe the key issue here is that people setting up new systems for the 1st time miss the point that less rock REQUIRES better equipment.....They sometimes go with the less rock and do not upgrade the equipment or even use it.
