IE 7 question

I finally upgraded to IE 7 but I can't figure out how to rearrange the tool bars. I want to move the bar with the "File Edit View... etc" up to the top, and move the address bar to the middle. Any help?

Right click the toolbar area and select "Unlock" and drag away...

That doesn't work. They still don't move.

are u using the end portion of the toolbar to move it?

IE 7 can be a pain at first but once you get used to it you;ll like the tab'd pages

Tried grabbing nearly every pixel of the toolbar to drag it. It just doesn't, even with the toolbar unlocked. I thought maybe I was missing something.

I use Firefox personally, but if I remember correctly, the file menu can't be moved above the address bar. The address bar and nav tools are parts of the title bar and not movable. The menu bar and the links bar can be shown/hidden and moved around.

Well that's dumb.

That's what I was afraid of.

But if you want that same functionality without all of IE7's other "charms" try Firefox or Safari.

I'm typing this from Safari. I was able to download it and install it in under 5 min. At the same time, I have IE 7 installing. It took about 5 min for the download, and has been installing for the past 10. Why does Microsoft insist on making bloated software?

I DO NOT like the interface on Safari! I still prefer FireFox.

I do have Firefox and Opera, but don't use them very often.

My wife found it, it's a registry hack. It does exactly what I wanted.

http://geeksaresexy.blogspot.com/200...ck-to-top.html

"If IE is opened, close it before doing anything
Start your registry editor (Start -> Run, type regedit in the run field and press OK)
Browse to HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ InternetExplorer \ Toolbar \ WebBrowser and be sure that the WebBrowser key is selected
Right-click the right part of the registry editor, select New->DWORD Value, and name it "ITBar7Position"
Double click that new value, and assign it with a decimal value of 1
Restart IE7, and voilà! You're done."

If nothing else, the URL geeksaresexy is worth a good laugh!
