bak pak vs. remora

need a little help here...im trying to decide on a skimmer for my 75g fowlr. currently it is cycling so im starting to get everything together. I have narrowed it down to the bak pak or the aqua c remora w/maxi 1200. I have limited space behind the tank so i need something compact. Which one would everyone reccomend?tia,

I am currently running the CPR Bak Pak and I love it. Mainly because it is impossible to screw up the skimming. The only thing you have to adjust is the collection cup.

I have run a Remora for the past 2 years, and it has worked pretty well. Only have had 2 problems, one stripping out the injector cleaning screw, and now it has begun to spew microbubbles into the tank. Ordered a Octopus HOB skimmer to replace it, hopefully it will have better performance.

I wouldn't use either for a 75g tank. My BakPak skimmers seem marginal for my 29g systems. I didn't have good experiences with a Remora Pro, either. You could ask in the equipment forum for some alternatives.

I had both a Remora Pro and a BakPak for my 56 when I had it setup. The BakPak did a lot more. You'd really want 2 of them though on that setup probably. I don't know much about the Octopus HOB one's, but the in-sump one I have now does an amazing job, have to clean it every other day now (verse at least once a day before).

Neither skimmer is adequate for a 75 gallon tank.

I had the BakPak. It was okay for my 20 gallon, though I was never really happy with it. I found it difficult to to adjust for optimal skimming...either too dry or too wet. JME.

I bought a used Euro-Reef when I was getting equipment for a 75g. Some of the Octopus skimmers might be cheaper and good enough.

Lots of manufacturers are very optimistic in their skimmer ratings.
