Is Freaking Out normal with new equipment?

I've finally got my HOB fuge running on my tank, and I'm stuck in panic mode it seems.

The fuge is almost 1/3 the size of my tank. To account for power being shut off, I had to leave about 1cm below the rim of the tank. The return is producing bubbles which are popping and hoping a good 3 inches above the top of the tank (I've got no top, looks like I'm going to have to find one tomorrow). I'm in a state of panic thinking this thing is going to leak, causing damage to my place and my downstairs neighbor's place.

Do you guys get like this?

Okay..not really sure on where the problem is...where do you think you need a top? For the tank? which is what size? or the Fuge? and what size..did the Fuge come with its own pump? or did you buy one?..if you answer these..I will help anymore with what I can..

Yea, I get that way sometimes. It just comes with the territory, your dealing with a ticking time bomb that could go off any second (Cracks, Equipment failure, etc.).

How about some pics of the set up to see what you are dealing with.

That is a lot of water hanging off the back of such a small tank! I have been looking at some form of HOB fuge, but with a smaller DT/fuge volume ratio than you currently have (5-10% rather than your 30%). If at all possible, post a pic of your set-up.

Can you lower the level of water in the refugium? This could be done by lowering the refugium side of the return, and that would allow you to fill your tank as normal and cut back on the bubbles. Also, you may want to place some items (books, pieces of wood, etc.) under your HOB refugium to hold it up, take the pressure off the frame of your ten gallon.

Of course. But, IMHE, if they don't leak in 24 hours, they're not going to leak.

I decided to pull it off (before I saw your posts, sorry, didn't take a pic). It's just too heavy for that little tank. I think I'll try to sell it and pick up an AC 70 to mod.
