Thanks, ouinla, for the kind words. Yes, we have the Xenias on their own rocks and they are located away from the main rock structure. This way when we are ready we can frag the colony.

I stopped by one of our favorite LFS yesterday (Friday) and saw a stunningly beautiful coral. The owner identified it as a Hydnophora Rigida. The color was neon green and the shape gave the piece tremendous personality. All the other pieces were rather dull… this one really stood out! I decided to put a deposit on it so I could bring Cathy to look at it today. She thought it was unique and beautiful and we brought it home!

Before doing this I did some research on them last night here at RC and in a couple books we have so I could be sure I knew what we were getting into. Because of how dangerous it is to other corals we located it by itself near the front of the tank on the sand bed. The pictures below show where we placed it as well as a close-up of one or its branches. These shots were taken under the actinics... the halides had already gone off.

The tank looks even better now with the new occupant!

Very nice specimen. You already know the important thing, so enjoy your new acquisition.

That's a beautiful shot, Steve! Like you say, I can't wait for the polyps to open more fully. It adds an amazing splash of green to the tank!

Gorgeous color on the new buy Doug, under the actinics any way.
Tank is really starting to come to life now I bet. Taken any full shots lately?

Good grief... If I had just ignored it the first time, it would have gone away. That's what I get for opening my big mouth!

Solomon (the Anthias) is doing great! I haven't seen any white dust on him in a couple of days. It never really looked like any of the pics I saw of ich, so I think it was just detritus or something. He'll have his harem before too long.

On another note... you may have seen my posts in the "Nano-Reef" forum about the 15g-tall Eclipse I got from a friend (this is my birthday project! ). It was used, but I cleaned it up really good -- I took it apart, filled tank with water + 1/2 cup of bleach and soaked overnight, then rinsed with tap water and let it all air dry. It wasn't terribly dirty to begin with, so it wasn't too much of a hassle. I plan on putting the 32w retro light kit in it. It will have LR, a shallow sand bed, and a few corals that only require low-medium light. Mostly I want a rare Hawiian Golden Dwarf Moray (my LFS will sell me one for $120), a Magenta Dottyback, and maybe one other Damsel or something.

Right now, I'm trying to find a longer piece of black siphon tube. You'd think they would give you a longer one with the "tall" 10x20 tank. Any ideas?

Also, our BTA has been looking very healthy, so we put the clowns back in the main tank. Boy are they happy! If Fingers starts looking puny again, we'll have to find another home for him. If one has to go, it won't be Mac & Dell!

Good to hear about the BTA. Sounds like things are looking up around the Miannay house. I am not very familar with the eclipse units. Could you use clear vinyl tubing? It could be wrapped with black electrical tape to shut out the light.

Can you post the URL of your thread on www.nano-reef.com. I'm a member but never go on. Thanks

BTW, everything is looking great, that Hydnophora is beautiful.

LOL, actually I meant the Nano-Reefs forum here on RC, but I've posted my question at nanoreef.com as well.

Good question. I would start at a Menards, Lowes, or Home Depot. If that doesn't work the I might check Savko.com. I seem to remember picking up some fairly small gauge vinyl tubing at an Ace Hardware too. HTH

And your local LFS has it as well.

You can buy tinted flex tubing at Home Depot, to avoid algae growth.

Ok, I'll have to go check out what HD has. Thanks everyone!

Anybody else have little white dots on their front glass every morning? We can't figure out what it is. We'll try to get pics today.

Can you get a close up pic of dots? My guess is it is some kind of hydroid. Either little jellyfish or worms. I had them for a couple months about 4 months into my tank. Now I rarely see any.

Could be copepods. If you look close do they move?

LOL, Doug cleaned them off before I could say anything about getting pics. Oh well,... they will be back. Interesting though, that our tank is just about four months old.

Hey Marc, I've been eyeballing this for my 15g Eclipse: HOB fuge. What do you think?
