Reefkeeper 2

I just wanted to say that I just ordered the Reefkeeper 2! I'm so excited! I've wanted one of these since I first got into the hobby!

For those of you who have one, what do you have plugged into what outlet? Do you have any suggestions for me as to how it works, what you did, etc...?

I also ordered with it the Tunze Nanostream, the pH probe and a Stealth Heater (100w)

YAH! Very excited! I just hope the boyfriend doesn't find out about this...or I'm dead!

Well I just got my reefkeeper2 a couple weeks ago. I LOVE IT!

I sold my acjr and x-10's to get it. It is so easy to get set, and has been working flawlessly.

As far as outlets, there is a pre-set program that you can use and modify to your liking. There is also a diagram of what outlets to use for what.

Also you'll love the nano stream. Got one myself.

Sugarfox, all of your spending on equipment is giving me bad ideas about my tanks.... I could live without the Reefkeeper, but where is the fun in that?!

I'm sure mine will be in the mail soon too

I hope you love it (and the boyfriend does too).

I've had my RK2 for about a year or so, its a good investment IMO. If you get the pH probe then it really will be worth it. Plus all them timers and a wavemaker is more then worth it.

Thank Goodness for tax returns!

I can't wait...I'm sick of having to unplug stuff to feed the tank, or turn my actinics on myself. Who wants to do all that?

EZ: Have you tried contacting the company? Maybe they can help with the reprogramming? I hope you get it fixed!

EZ: Contact Digital Aquatics. Scott provides excellent customer service.

I've had my Reef Keeper 1 for over 2 years now and haven't had any problems with it. I couldn't be with out it. I tried multiple timers--what a head ache, before this.

The 2 has a port that can be connected to a computer to program (optional.)

I will get the 2 eventually--it is a temperature controller, wave maker, light timer, and pH monitor all-in-one and costs less than the four separately.

PO4=0ppm, ideal

Ca= 480ppm, still a little high
pH= 8.2, I'd like it at 8.3

Awesome! Does anyone know if there's been any issues hooking up the Prime brand chillers to the RK2? I've finally decided on the chiller, but want to make sure that it will work with the RK2. Its the Prime Mini In Line Chiller, 1/15.

You just designate a channel (plug-in outlet) as 'chiller', plug the chiller cord into that one, make sure the temperature probe is in the water, select the maximum temperature you want your tank to be on the RK2, and select the temperature on the chiller to be the same or a little lower.

reefkeeper is great other then the fact that you cannot plug it into a power strip. Also, reefkeeper doesnt have a GFC. Also, the pH needs to be calibrated often, i recommend getting solution from ebay. The only problem I have had with the Reefkeeper 2 ph probe.

I didn't like some of the people on SWF. I caught too much crap for my dogs (pit bull & american bulldog.) My dogs are my life...I can't stand to hear selfish people who don't know a darn thing about them talk crap.

I have found that there's much more knowledgeable people here anyway. How's your tank coming along? I remember all the stuff you went through with the 24...did you set it back up?

I finally got it last Friday, so it's only been on for less than a week. I finally got the pH probe on last night as well. I LOVE IT! Its so easy to turn pumps off to feed. I don't have to worry about being home at a certain time to make sure the actinics are turned off at night. I got the tunze nanostream 6025 at the same time and what a difference that makes as well! I have the RK2 controlling the Tunze (its only on for 12 hours, 9a-9p.) My temp stays right at 80. Its just an awesome controller, and I really dont know how anyone can live without one.

Hmm - you sold your Aquacontroller Jr. for the RK2? The reason I'm interested is that I'm in the market for a controller. In fact I'm likely going to make a purchase this Saturday from the LFS. I have been leaning towards the Aquacontroller Jr. - what is the reason that you sold your ACJR for a RK2?

From what little I have read about the JR is something to do with people not liking the 10 modules or the software crashing or something of that nature.

New question! I want to be able to control my pH. It drops way down at night (this morning when I woke up it was at 7.64) and thats with a fuge on reverse lighting than the tank. During the day its fine, but I'm worried about at night. Other than the co2 thing, is there anything I can do to raise my ph. Alk & calcium are fine also. Am I just being paranoid?
