Whats the difference between branching, and wall hammer corals?

Im a newb to LPS, Im hoping to add one of these to my tank eventually. I need all the info I can get.

The way the skeleton grows. Care is identical for either growth form.

the 54 corner is hard to light efficiently

I am in the process of having a 12 inch canopy built, So I can hang MH's over it.

I always thought that hammers needed low to moderate flow. I could be wrong. Lets se what others have to say.

That has been my experience, too. They should have some indirect flow around them to carry away wastes, but you know it's too much flow if it indents the tentacles, or the hammer refuses to extend all the way. It would look sort of like it is being smashed against its own skeleton. You should get it from a place that it is happy & fully extended in so you will know exactly what to watch for as it acclimates to your system.

im curious, how do they grow? do they just simply grow BIGGER? or do they grow more branches? i know its a bit of a newbie question
