I have to fill out "Interests"?

I wanted to add to my signature line today. So I put in what I wanted, pressed Submit Modifications and got this..

Quote:
You have not completed the required field "Interests". Please press the back button, complete it, and resubmit the form.
Why? Is this new? I've had my name in my sig line for a long time without having to have "Interests" filled out.

To stay one step ahead of the "bots" being used to spam forums like ours, I've been randomly changing which fields are "required" in our profiles. Next week it'll be something else.

That's a pretty good idea. Can I steal it?

Although I do find that most are now filling in basically every field.

Our club forum has a problem with them. Are there any other tricks someone can PM to me?

The trick to dealing with spambots is to implement either an image with text on it that must be entered into a box, or have a text field in your form that MUST remain blank. We've implemented the latter on a few of our text comment forms here at work and it works very well.

Thanks Jason! I'm going to pass this thread on to our club mods to see if we can do something like this.

Tippytoe sounds like a dance related name.

Kind of. I do yoga and am barefoot a lot of the time. Because of that I'm very light on my feet. People would tell me that I walk around like I'm on my tippy toes.

I wanted TippyToes as my email address some 10 years ago but it was taken! So I thought X had an S sound when you put it all together. Therefore I used TippyToeX for my email. Then it stuck with everything else.
