anyone using a pro series 75 sump
Any issues with this sump. Does the skimmer work well. Is there a way to add a refugium to it? thanks

i have the 150 version and i was happy with it for the first year then my nitrates went through the roof bcasue of the bioballs but the skimmer is good if your not going to have a big bio load. There is a way to make it into a refigium witch would be best instead of the bio balls. when you first get it the bioballs will be already in the sump. near the top of the drip plate there is six holes leave them dont cover them up. then there is an opening on the bottom between the return section and the bioball spot. They give you a foam block to put there. Put a peice of acrylic and glue it there that way water cant get through. the water in the sump would then rise up to the 6 holes on top then overflowing into the return section.

I ran a Pro 75 on my 55 for 4 years..
The Skimmer is OK but can't be adjusted in any way.. If the skimmer's Rio 600 dies replace it with a maxijet 1200 Like Unclean said Ditch the Bio Balls. I'd glue in a piece of Acrylic in the bottom of the bio ball chamber and use that for a refuge. Later get an ASM skimmer, move the refuge to the current Skimmer chamber, put the ASM in the bio ball chamber, split the return between the fuge and skimmer. The only real issue might be microbubbles in the pump chamber. This is how I ran mine for a line time with a Rio 2100 return pump I never did the refuge mod but I was planning on it. Later I changed to an External Mag 7 I did an over the top feed.. If I did it again I'd just drill and add a bulkhead to feed the pump. One thing I'd recomend is replacing the cheep electrical bulkheads with real plumbing bulkheads.. it's a little work with a hole saw but well worth the effort. Better pics of the sump and overflow A little large for the post http://www.pontiacs.org/pics/project...ff2/Pro-75.JPG http://www.pontiacs.org/pics/project...5_overflow.JPG http://www.pontiacs.org/pics/project...ff2/AGA_55.JPG

I might get one then, with a little modification it might be exactly what I need. I shouldn't have a huge bioload so hopefully the skimmer will work.
