Anyone used Sea Hares?

I was at the LFS today and they had some Sea Hares that were supposed to help w/ algae blooms. I'm usually suspiscious of what a LFS tells me but there was another guy (customer) that said he had one in his tank and it wiped it clean of HA in a matter of days.

So, has anyone else had similar experiences w/ them?

Please be careful when buying a sea hare. If they get stressed or die, they will release a purple ink and can do a number on your live stock. I had one awhile back and I didn't have much luck with him. I didn't notice it eating any hair algea. If you do decide to try one, pehaps after it cleans the tank, sell it or give it to someone.

Good luck

I have had one in a 125, moved to a 75, then moved to a 42 hex when I had a outbreak of hair algae (due to not changing out RO filters), they eat like crazy, but once the algae is gone you will need to feed them nori or trade them back to someone that needs one, they do a great job just like a vacumn cleaner. Eating machines they are. I think I read somewhere they only live around a year.
