First new post a few specific corals, then some tank shots.

Dave, the 3rd pic from the bottom.. that green acropora. Do you have a top down shot of it? I think I have the same one. Is it neon bright green with some purple coralites? Mine is only a frag (grows really slow), but i love the form it takes when its bigger.

Dosing pump

Nice Tank, superb! What dosing pump do you use for your Kalk reactor? Do you dose Kalk only at night? What rate?

Actually the kalk reactor is not in use, my DKH was getting too high. The pump is a "sentry" from reefdosingpumps.com, however I would not recommend buying one from them. The first one I had stopped working, I sent it back and was charged $75 to fix it, and then it stopped working 2 weeks later after the repair. It will not work properly now, and my email and letter were not replied to.

They are working out just fine, well except that they bite. I feed them whole frozen( thawed) shrimp every other day. My finger and from time to time arm look like a piece of shrimp to them, and the male draws blood when he gets me good. Not crazy about all the bacteria he must have in his mouth...but it is not their fault. In fact I may do the same if I was fed every other day

Thanks spleify. I have the top down and close-up photos figured out, but the tank shots are still tough for me with my little camera.

That is actually an aussie acro I got from rr (there were several smaller pieces when I got mine). It is the closest to a true yellow I have actually, others have noted it as well, it stands out in front of the big redish/pink piece. Huge polyps, no top down pic on that one yet.

With them all being pegged I spend suprisingly little time making sure they do not touch. They grow slower pegged, but I like to be in control of their placement at all times.

What make and where did you get a 270 gallon Starfire tank? I was told that 120 gal was the largest Starfire made.

You can get any custom size tank in starfire if you're willing to pay the price.

Ok I have seen enough, what an accomplishment you have achieved. I have asked myself this question many times about your setup. How the heck do you get such great colors on your SPS? It has to be your routine maintenance.
I say that the bulbs your are using had me curios, so I picked up one for my tank 20k 400watt Xm my Sps have been improving in color fast. I was using 400watt ushio bulbs great/ fast growth but the color was way to yellow for me.
Alright now let me get back on track. I have noticed that you dose Tropic Marin A and K elements do you think this has attributed to your successes? I also would like to know about how is it you maintain you magnesium level high all the time. Are you dosing manually or do you have a dosing pump that adds all the extras?
I am sorry for all the questions but you have completly blow me away with this tank/system that you have. I only wish you lived closer so that I could learn how a true reefer maintains such a beautiful reef. Well in any case I wish you all the success with your living ecosystem as it is truly a work of art.
Michael

I hope you are keeping a list of your corals. Once you are selected TOTM, you will have to post them. Please include your equipment and sump pictures. (smile)
