Ooops, I did a 3 gal Pico too

Started a 3 gal pico last night with some of the cured rock from my 12 gal nano. Have 5 lbs LS in there and around 3-4 lbs LR plus some RR in the HOB, I'll add chaeto in there next week. It is a Tom Aqua Deco 3 with 18 watt 50/50 CF light and the 80gph HOB filter. Planned on a mantis tank but wife said she'd rather see a fish in there, so have 1 clown goby and plan on adding some softies to brighten it up. Now the pics.

Last night after adding sand, rock and water.

This morning before I taped a piece of black paper to the wall behind.

With the black paper behind.

With the black paper and flash, flash was on auto and did not come on without the paper.

Let me know what ya'll think and maybe some ideas going forward. Plans are for about 20% PWC every Sat for nutrient export.

Added a Kenya Tree frag and 2 sexy shrimp last night as well as re-aquascaped a bit. They frag is from a member of the reef club, thanks Brian, and the shrimp are from Emerald Bay Fish and Reptile. The Tree was open nice when I got home from work but I had to move it and he closed up on me then. I'll try to get a pic of it open tomorrow.

New look to the tank, sexy shrimp on left rock and tree just right of center.

The shy little clown goby, he only comes out to watch House, MD.

Couple updates and a couple new pics.

Have been testing params every other day and they are still holding steady at 0 except for trates which climbed up to .5, that will go down with weekly PWCs. The Kenya Tree is opening up fully now and strutting its stuff, and both shrimp have molted. The fish is still just hanging out, I do see him eat some as it floats by, feed small amounts twice a day. The 2 astreas are devastating the algae growth in the tank and keeping the sides clean. I added a moonlight today, though I had to rig it up creatively.

Shot from the top, the coral skeleton was 70% covered with algae yesterday.

Kenya Tree spreading its branches.

The beautiful moonlight.

How, that's enough light for corals?
I'm used to planted freshwater aquariums, in which the light would be doubled at least.

Hmm, i smell a new tank coming in!

Here's a quick update on the pico. Got my CUC from reefscavengers.com in for the 12 and added a few snails from it to the 3 as well as a frag of sun polyps and blue/green polyps and a rock anemone. The clown goby decided to stop eating and wasted away, a couple at the LFS where I bought him look to be doing the same and all water params were at 0. Here is the new pic, going to leave it be for a week or 2 before looking at sadding anything more.

Full tank shot, you can just see the anemone.

Great start. I cant wait to see it mature. Your clown goby looks a little skinny to me. Most likely the fish store was not feeding him well. Feed him everyday and he will be good as new in no time.

Just a quick update. I added another yellow clown goby, this one is eating like a pig and has started to color up in the week I've had him. Other than that I found another anemone on one of the rocks that I think is aiptasia, just waiting for it to get bigger to be sure. Have some green algae coming in and the coralline is starting to spread.

Current FTS.

Sorry to take so long to get back to ya Amory. I do a weekly 20% WC and add Purple Up! at the same time, no other dosing. I feed a small amout of Cyclopeez frozen daily for the fish and 4 times a week phyto for the corals. That's all other than daily top offs for evap of about 1.5-2 cups.
