Question is my friend an accountant? or are we

my friend thinks that CORAL host CLOWNFISH, instead of the other way around.

i personally think that CLOWNFISH host CORAL, because everything i've ever read about the subject has been written in that way. for example, we talk about clownfish hosting behavior, and how some users say like, ooo my clownfish was hosting my mag cleaner, or whatever.
not my mag cleaner was hosting my clownfish.

thats my 0.02

The host is the larger, stronger of the pair. This is the anemone, not the fish. I think the people who write "the fish host the anemone" are retarded :-)
We talking about "clownfish hosting" anemones. The noun here is anemones while clownfish hosting is the adjective.
Dr. Fautin tiltle her book as:
FIELD GUIDE TO ANEMONE FISHES AND THEIR HOST SEA ANEMONES

Need I say more?

I would love to see a clownfish hosting a coral.....a little clownfish swimming around the tank with a coral or anemone chasing after it - yep, would definitely be a sight to see! But unfortunately in my tanks the clownfish are hosting IN the corals, so the corals are the hosts or objects of the phrase.

The proper term is the nem or coral hosts the clown, however sometimes people trying to keep it brief may say incorrectly, and yeah, some just don't know proper terminology.

It is one of my pet peeves. Instead of saying, "my clown is finally hosting in the anemone", one should say, "my clown has finally accepted the anemone as its host".

i think it can b both ways. because sometimes clowns never host an anemone but then again alot do. sometimes the anemone is stressed and dosent take wel to the clowns and closes up and dosent let them host.

Yeah, obviously it is the anemone that is the host. We should all make an effort to be more precise in writing our posts. Clarity in one's written word is not only a way to convey information and ideas effectively, but also lends credence to whatever the author has to say. I post this sheepishly, because I hardly consider myself an English whiz; however, sometimes the posts are so poorly written that I have no idea what the question/or point is. Then I ask myself, "And this person is going to try to keep a sea anemone?--yikes."

The only thing a clown can really host is a parasite. When you stay at someones house you are not the host, they are hosting you. This is a subject that burns me up. Its never going to be corrected.

This subject came up several time in the past. I just cannot do anything about it without seen so petty, so I just ignored it.

That's my point, we're all talking in abbreviations and whatever to keep conversation concise/less typing.
I know who's hosting who, I don't stress on the proper english here myself as long as people are being respectful and sharing thier knowledge to help others.

HEY!!! thats a very mean thing to change it to accountants.. what mod changed the title? I think this mod needs moderated, I am not happy.

BTW ... something alittle more PC, if you wanted to change the title ... oh I dont know ... maybe "is my friend CONFUSED, or are we?" This is not brain surgery!

I find it disturbing that, in your mind, it's perfectly acceptable to make fun of disabled people but if someone takes a light-hearted jab at someone's profession you are offended.

I can guess what was in there before but didn't actually see it, but no I don't find it acceptable.

However, I wasn't offended. Apologies, I should have followed it up with one of these Atleast I am not an actuary
