Is this normal? (pics inside)

I just received my JBJ Mini Artica chiller. While doing an inspection i found green/blue marks on the metal(copper?) lines inside the chiller. Is this corrosion? Is it normal on a brand new unit or is this something that should be returned? Thanks for any advice.

Looks like rust to me. If it is I would definetely return it. Is the unit used or new?

I would guess that it's normal. Copper line coming from condensor is what we're looking at?

Green color could be oxidation or chemical reaction on the surface? I'd need a closer look -

looks like the didn't wipe all the acid off after soldering.
wipe it off with a damp rag, and it'l be fine.

it is the copper line coming from the condensor to the compressor. The end of the line near the compressor is the part in question. Reding the maual they say they performance test hem, so possibly this is oxidation is from the initial testing, but i'm not sure.

is that a problem, or just something that needs to be cleaned off? Will the acid corrode the copper pipe?

ok, thanks. I did email JBJ and send some pics just to see what they say, so i'll wait to hear back before i clean it. I'm probably being a little paranoid, but this chiller wasn't cheap and only has a 1 year warranty on it so i wanted to make sure i got one that wouldn't be leaking in the near future

well jbj emailed back and this was their response-

"Mu guess is it is corrosion on the outside of the copper lines if they were left out for some time prior to u using them in the plant which should cause no problems"

it is common for all copper to oxidize some, as in your case....whether it is a jbj chiller or your home A/C...the copper tubing is the same and handles the weather well...one line going in to the compressor will have condensate buildup because the refrigerant is freezing going in....over time that will cause staining....but i stress it is absolutely no big deal
