Is this a good camera?

What do you guys think of the Samsung GX-1S 6.1-Megapixel Digital SLR? Would be my first SLR camera. Thanks for any positive and negative feedback and help.

It got okay reviews. When buying a DSLR you have to realize that you're buying a system, not just a camera. The Samsung can use Pentax lens so that helps but most of the market, when it comes to lenses and other accessories, belongs to Canon and Nikon. Will it take good pictures for you? Yes.

For that price range might I suggest you peruse Nikon and Canon options? You'll have much more choice/flexibility with lenses and such. Sony's Alpha is a very nice option as well. Check out some specs here:

Shop around...when you are going DSLR you want as many options as possible when it comes to the glass. I have heard and seen great things with the Olympus E series DSLR's too.

As far as I know, Canon accessories and such will only work with Canon products, etc. I personally would stick with either Nikon or Canon as they have many options for lenses and such. I personally chose Canon when I bought a camera.
