Aerate the water?

When you mean aerate the water to bring PH up, can this be done with an airstone and a pump in my sump?

There are lots of ways. A skimmer is often best, but even opening the top of a closed tank or closed sump can help. An airstone in a sump can help, but bear in mind that you must aerate with air that has normal CO2 levels.

Many homes have elevated CO2, and no amount of aeration can change that. So some folks pipe in fresh air, or just open nearby windows. In a cold climate (like RI in the winter), folks give up on that approach, and use limewater instead.
