Kalk 24/7

Hey Randy, Im having trouble keeping my PH over 7.9 I know you say this is ok. You know how the temp has been and I cant keep the windows open since the tank is in the babys room. I have been able to elevate it to the 8.2-8.3 range drippipng Kalk, but only if I drip it 24/7. Are there any negatives by doing this? Thank you.

p.s. Do you have a favorite Kalkwasser, other than ms. wedges, like Kent or Seachem?

What is diurnal (daily) change in pH in your tank ?

You have to measure PH at least 2 times daily:
- in the morning, after lights are swithed on
- and in the evening, before you swith lights off

If you have large (daily) change in pH I suggest you to drip Kalk only during the night.

If your PH is stable all the day and night, it is nothing wrong with drippipng Kalk 24/7.

Without dripping, my ph will drop from 8.2 all the way down to 7.8 Thats a pretty big drop and then rise. Id like to keep the swing down to a minimal. I have a ph monitor and it has been calibrated. The onlyway my ph will not swing is by dripping 24/7. Thanks for your help.

No. I do it, and so do many folks.

I use Mississippi Lime Company food grade Quicklime (calcium oxide) that Greg Hiller arranged an order of years ago.

Thank you Randy. Yes, I read about that group buy, but I only found out about the BRS or the BRS forum a short time ago, ever since then, its been coral and all reef related stuff savings. Thank you once again for your help.
