Quiet One 3000 and a gate valve?

Is it possible to restrict the flow of a Quiet One 3000 with a gate valve? My overflow cant handle 1 inch but it handles 3/4 to well I have a hard time adjusting the durso so I was guessing that I could just put the gate valve and control it with that, Im just not sure if the pump will act weird. Thanks for any help.

The pump wont act weird but the flow will be reduced a little. Anytime you put any thing in the path of flow it will reduce it.

Well thats what Im looking for. To reduce the flow a bit. I cant put a separate line with the gate valve. I dont have the space for it. Its in a 7 gallon sump, all I could fit in my 29 gallon tank stand. I just want tomake sure that the lines wont burst or that the pump wont overheat or something because I restricted the flow a bit.

Just make sure you put it on the discharge side.
