these lights are great for the price $379 at aqua traders, heard mixed reviews but,i know 2 other people using them and i believe the newest models are very good for the price

I think they look like good units, but I have never used that brand and I am a little leary about not know what brand of bulbs they are supplying. Also that seems like a lot of heat for such a little fixture. I know it has fans but they don't look like they vent the PC section, just the halide.

im telling,im no expert by any means,but it is worth the try for 379 dollars,the heat isnt really any differant than the 384 watts ive bben using from my power compacts

i do use 2 small fans around them also

I think you will find that the halides will generate a lot more heat than your PC's. I have 2x250 halides over my 135g and it will raise the tank temp a degree over six hours even with two four inch fans.

$379 is a lot of money to risk on a unknown IMO. I have about $200 into my setup currently, but it is all second hand and mounted into a canopy.

you are probably right with everything you said,but i wont know unless i try them,ive been using them for 3 days now on 90gallon and although it isnt the summer months,i really havent seen a differance in temperature,my take is always between 77 and 78 degrees,maybe next month i will be on here looking like a fool,but to this point i dont regret getting them,im sure the bulbs are low quality,they are made in china,but i can always get differant bulbs

Congrats on the purchase. I wasn't trying to knock your choice (actually I didn't know you made the purchase already. ). I have always been envious of people that end up with prebuilt units that look super pretty.

I just don't have the budget to be one of the people taking the gamble.

thanks for the congrats,my wife hasnt been down stairs for the last few days,and hasnt realized,i bought them yet,the fixture looks differant than my old one,but ill just tell her that i took some of the plastic off,thats why it looks "slimmer"!!

i dont know about the 760w model, but the 24" version i bought is awesomeee. bought it for 149 shipped, changed out the MH bulb to a 14k phoenix and replaced the mh ballast to an icecap 250w

I have owned the 72" version for the past 10 months... not 1 problem at all... heat exists but not an issue with the fans on. Growing LPS, SPS, Clams, Anenomes, etc easily with these lights.

If you end up not "happy" with the color of your MH it is NOT the bulb it's the ballasts - they are underpowered. Replace the MH ballasts first before getting new bulbs. The stock bulbs are fine...
